Watching Hornbill and Sulphur Crested Cockatoo in Manokwari

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita)
Birding in Lowland Forest of Manokwari
There is a birding site in the northwest area of Manokwari where visitors could watch Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) and Blyth's Hornbill (Rhyticeros plicatus) as well as other tropical birds that live in lowland. Its name is Mesirrokow forest. As a tourist guide, I have organized tours to the forest for tourists who come from France, Switzerland, England and China. We spend 3 to 4 days hiking, camping and birding, swimming and even catching fish in the forest.

We stay in tents and move deeper into the forest the next day. It is not difficult to explore the forest because most of the area along the river is flat. I provide tents, cooking and eating utensils so that visitors do not need to carry heavy things in their bags.
We will walk along the river to see the scenery of the forest and watch birds such as Eclectus Parrot, Dollarbird, Little Egret, Willie Wagtail, Yellow-faced Myna, Nightjar, Brahminy Kite, Little-Ringed Plover, Rainbow Lorikeet, Beautiful Fruit Dove and a lot more. To see them well, I highly suggest that visitors bring a good pair of binoculars, and spotting scope.
